Question

Description

The essay is worth 25% of your final grade and is to be between 1500-2000 words in length. Your thesis must be supported with a minimum of 7 peer-reviewed sources.

2)  I believe a “roadmap” to be a key factor in properly organizing an essay. In explanation, I expect to see a clearly stated thesis as well as an indication of what arguments you will be putting forward throughout the paper to support it.

“My thesis is x. In investigation and support of x, I will cover a, b, c and d.”

3) I also appreciate the use of natural transitions between paragraph. It is a demonstration of your writing ability. I further discourage the use of headings as this is not a “research paper’ per se.

4)Research is to be well integrated into your paper and should not just be added to meet the minimum criteria. A paper of true academic integrity does research and then determines a conclusion, not merely finding research to support their thesis.

5)Any reference to case law or legislation should be italicised. Ie. Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
