What does high performance mean?

There are some notable differences in high performing companies. High performing companies tend to have employees that are reflective of the organization. They work well together; they are organized and energized. For instance, high-performing companies have confidence in their organization’s strategy and changes, which can be frequent. They can jump right in, never missing a beat. Furthermore, they know what they are supposed to be doing and how it relates to their neighbors' tasks (Bhalla et al., 2011). To further explain, a high performing company outperforms similar organizations over a long period of time.

What facets are essential when determining if a company is high performing?

High performing organizations are characterized by sustainable performance over time. As complex and dynamic units, organizations face staff turnover, changing leadership, and the effects of external factors. They have unique cultures that influence performance quality and sustainability (Agins & Holden, 2007). Another critical point, high performing organizations tend to exercise transparency. High performance is regularly seen when visiting an organization performance data is openly displayed on the walls. The staff is familiar with their performance, and they openly share ideas for improvement. Additionally, evidence of patient involvement and a commitment to meeting consumer prospects confirm that an organization exceeds performance (Agins & Holden, 2007).
