Read the section in this chapter about counselors in recovery; share your feelings and attitudes about how a counselor’s personal history with substance use impacts his/her effectiveness as a counselor. In your opinion, do counselors who have never been addicted or counselors in recovery from an addictive past make the best addictions counselors?
