Question
Description
5-8 pages long MLA format, including the "works cited" page. Thesis: The misrepresentation of Latina women within American media promotes the dehumanization of indigenous and black Latinas. Body 1: Men fetishize the "crazy" Latina women, which further objectifies us. Body 2: The hypersexualized Latina trope in Hollywood that only pertains to and represents white Latinas. (Bring further evidence by proving that both these stereotypes are harmful to the Latina community and the consequences reflect between poorer Latina communities (black and brown) and rape culture.) Body paragraph 3: I don't know how else to prove my thesis and was struggling to come up with another main point. I was thinking there could be a counter-paragraph saying that if Latinas aren't sexualized, they are represented as the fat ugly maid in film, which further reinforces the idea of "sexy, WHITE, Latinas." But I also think that is an add-on to the first or second paragraph. Maybe the fact that Google and American films only represent white Latinas with their assets out, and further damages the image of black and brown Latinas but you can choose if you'd like.
