act as if you are writing to an audience who knows nothing about African American history).
The student will word process using Times New Roman font, 12-point, standard 1inch margins
on all four sides, double spaced, page numbers, and make sure space after is 0 (this is found

completely answer all aspects of the question (and this answer is what the thesis will be arguing).
The student must use footnotes when citing the lectures and readings using Chicago Manual
Style. Not strictly following these instructions will result in receiving a 0 on the assignment with
no exceptions or excuses.
Answer one option.
Option 1
Over the semester, we have gone through the creations of Africans to African Americans and the
creation was both an act of oppression and resistance. Once the colony of England becomes the
United States, African Americans go through several transformations to be Africans and
Americans in search for not only identity but being recognized as citizenship. Detail, analyze,
and argue how and why the identities of Africans shift into being African Americans in both
freedom and enslavement and make sure to include the external and internal forces that shaped
the identities and citizenship of African Americans in the US.
Option 2
In the United States, African Americans are confronted with what is freedom for both enslaved
and free people. However, African Americans never doubted they were deserving of freedom.
Detail, analyze, and argue how African Americans asserted their humanness that was deserving
of freedom and make sure to keep in mind all of the varying strategies that African Americans
devised to obtain freedom and human rights.
