Question

Imagine that you are the pastor of a congregation, and a Black member of your congregation was unarmed and murdered by the police. You have seen the video footage and concluded that the officer used excessive force and the killing was unjust. You are asked to appear on a platform such as CNN/FOX to address the killing. In your response, answer these two questions:

1.) How should Christians respond to the killing?

2.) How will your church respond? What will it do to address the killing?

To answer these questions, you are required to draw from Romans 13 (NRSV) and the writings of King and Bonhoeffer examined in this course. Keep in mind that this is a theological and ethical response.
