Description


 


In this course, leadership theory will be applied through the use of individual assessment instruments, i.e., analysis of video tapes, case studies, article critiques, role playing and self-assessment critiques. The importance of style of leadership and influences that effect style will be emphasized. Other major concepts will be analyzed utilizing here using These concepts include the attributes and skills to facilitate the leadership process for managing a school building organization. The focus of this analysis is to help to assess the candidates acquisition of administrative attributes and skills in the context of school leadership.

Standard 1: Mission and Vision,


 


Candidates who successfully complete a building-level educational leadership preparation program understand and demonstrate the capacity to promote the current and future success and well-being of each student and adult by applying the knowledge, skills, and commitments necessary to collaboratively lead, design, and implement a school mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities that include data use, technology, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community.

ASSIGNMENT:


 


 


 


 


Students will complete a self-assessment of current understanding and capacity in the learning objectives of the course, using the NELP standards addressed in this course as a guide. Students will write a reflection for each of the NELP standards covered in the course (listed above), describing their current understanding and competency for each standard and identify areas of improvement. Students should describe steps they feel they can take to improve their understanding and competency for each of the standards, and students will need to find and cite at least one academic article/source which they feel could help them to improve their understanding and competency for each NELP standard. The assignment should be no more than 2000 words total and must follow APA formatting rules (6th edition or later).
