Question
Description
I would like for each of you to pick a mainstream for-profit company (i.e., one that your classmates will likely have heard of before) that you believe has engaged in an effective corporate social responsibility strategy. This could be a company or brand that contributed money to non-profits, educated consumers, and/or changed its product offerings with the goal of benefiting society (e.g., engaging in more sustainable practices).
This can be in relation to Covid-19, but does not need to be. In fact, I want diverse examples, so please do not focus on whatever examples are most commonly discussed in the media, or those that are "classic" CSR examples like Tom's.
Please pick a single action to focus on (vs. the company’s strategy as a whole). You will post a brief description of the company and its CSR practice (< 150 words). You can share a link or ad if it would be helpful.
Using terminology and theories we’ve discussed (e.g., segmentation, consumer perception, new product development), explain why you think this strategy is/is not effective. Are there any potential downsides to this strategy? What are some opportunities/threats in the marketplace that will influence this strategy’s success/failure in the future? (This section should be concise < 200 words – remember quality over quantity!)
