Marketing management case study

Question
The case notes are very similar to creating an outline for writing a full case analysis. As with a
case analysis, the first thing you should do is clearly state what problem you believe the firm is facing.
As it has been frequently said, a well described problem is half solved. So be sure to start with a clear
problem statement for the firm.
Next you will want to see what the options are for the firm. These can be in bullet format but it must
be clear that these are the alternatives and not information that you have found or developed which may
help you in reaching a decision.
Then you should list all the key features which you have found or developed which you feel will be
helpful in coming to a decision. These are probably best done as bullet points, but it also would be best
to group them into logical areas. Generally this will be best done by either grouping types of
information (e.g., comparing gross margins, organizational fit, access to distribution channels for each of
the options) or to group all the information about a particular option. Either way it should make for an
easier way to find the information which would help you in making a decision. As you can see on the
rubric, this is the single most important area for the case notes. Please be sure to make your comments
clear enough that I should be able to easily read and understand the aspects that you find important for
helping to make a decision.
Finally, be sure to make a selection. As with the problem statement this would best be done in a
few sentences and it should refer back to which pieces of information you found particularly compelling
for making that particular choice.
You will note that there is no separate area for grammatical or writing errors. If there are any of
these they will tend to just lower the quality of the work within the specific area on your case notes (i.e.,
description of the problem, alternatives, key features, solution).
