WORKPLACES IN 2021
I. Thesis statement: The research evaluates the influence of ever-evolving laws surrounding
the consumption of marijuana and their impacts at the workplaces in Minnesota. It also
evaluates employers' reactions in the revision of their policies in alignment with current
policies, particularly those covering medical marijuana patients.
II. Body
A. A rise in tax revenues.
1. Minnesota has a concise program of medical marijuana following the five-
state voting for approving marijuana laws (Dills et al., 2021). They imply
that marijuana legalization will lead to a rise in tax revenues, improve
public health, stimulate the economy, increase traffic safety, and reduce
crimes. On the other hand, at the workplace, employers will be required to
review their current policies and ensure that they align with the evolving
marijuana laws, especially those that cover medical marijuana patients.
2. Marijuana is “a schedule I drug” at the federal level under the Act of
controlled substances. This means that it is perceived to have no medicinal
purpose and is likely to be abused (Wen et al., 2021). By legalizing
medicinal marijuana use, dispensaries will get tax advantages, though
recreational marijuana will remain illegal in the nation. Legalization or
rescheduling marijuana only needs congressional actions.
