Question
While the focus of this course is mainstream physical assessment and pathologies that nurses are most likely to encounter, it is important to realize that sometimes patients will suffer from a rare pathology. If a finding cannot be explained by the typical differentials, it is time to consider less common pathologies. Doctors and nurses cannot memorize every pathology; however, in every situation, especially one where the puzzle pieces are not fitting together, consider researching a site such as GARD.

Investigate a rare congenital musculoskeletal disease of your choosing.
Include the following aspects in the discussion:
- Provide a brief summary of the disease you chose.
- Describe the pathology.
- Share what might trigger concern during the health history.
- Describe what S/S you might find during the physical assessment.
- Discuss peers' chosen rare diseases.
- Student demonstrates exemplary critical thinking skills by concisely identifying multiples aspects of the weekly topic, and suggests the ramifications that each aspect presents.
- Student focuses on one aspect of the weekly topic, and articulates an argument/viewpoint that is well-reasoned.
- Student cites and summarizes data ormaterial taken from the current literature of the field; expertly incorporates the information as supporting evidence to back up the viewpoint
