HRM metrics are commonly used to evaluate various human capital aspects of the workforce, as well as to assess the performance of the HR function. The best metrics are those that provide relevant information to management and add value to the decision-making process. Examples of metrics typically used include, but are not limited to, such things as payroll and benefits costs, cost per hire, average time to fill, percentage of new hires retained for 90 days, training costs per employee, average training hours, employee turnover rates, HR expenses per employee, and so forth:
