Question
Description
The roots of rock 'n roll music come from the blues, a uniquely American form of music developed in the Deep South by African Americans in the 1920s and 1930s. The roots of the blues go back all the way to Africa.
Rock and roll gained huge popularity in the 1950s, much to the chagrin of parents at that time. As your textbook tells you, the term "teenager" was virtually unknown until after WW II.

Many adults at that time felt that rock music was the cause of youth rebellion. It was widely castigated, even as it grew in popularity, and there was, of course, push-back from much of society. When Elvis Presley first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in September of 1956, the camera was only allowed to show him above the waist when he danced, so as to not "excite" the audience with his swiveling hips.
Believe it or not, some of that anti-rock and roll fervor still exists today. See this website for more:

What to write about-
* What popular entertainment genre is blamed for the corruption of youth today? Is it still music? Is it video games? Both? Something else?
*Why do some people seek to blame these things for the ills of society?
